Piedmont’s dance program helps children build confidence while developing concentration, coordination, and social skills. Students learn to follow directions, take turns, and collaborate with peers, while low-pressure classroom “performance” moments give them the opportunity to shine, feel proud of their progress, and develop a love of performing.

Our dance program for ages 6-8 helps children develop coordination, balance, and body awareness through age-appropriate ballet, tap, and jazz. Using structured routines and musical accompaniment, students learn to control their movements, stay in rhythm, and build confidence—laying the foundation for strong technique and a lifelong love of dance.

Dance for ages 6–8 helps children develop concentration and focus in a natural, fun way. Through simple routines, music cues, and guided movement, students practice listening, following directions, and staying engaged. These skills gently build attention, self-control, and readiness to learn—benefits that carry over into school, friendships, and everyday life.

Piedmont School of Music & Dance’s program for ages 6–8 creates a warm, welcoming community for young dancers. Ballet is the foundation of dance training. Students develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance by practicing ballet. All dance styles will refer to ballet technique and terminology. Fundamentals classes devote 50% of their instructional time to ballet training.
The remaining class time is divided between tap and jazz dance. In tap classes, students develop rhythm and precision as they learn to move their feet to the beat. Jazz dance training helps students build expression and artistry in their movements.
