Summer Dance Intensive + Performance
The PSMD Dance + Performance Intensive is a 2-week summer program that culminates in a showcase held in a professional theater setting on Friday, June 30th.
Dancers, participating in the Performance Intensive, enjoy a full morning of classes followed by an afternoon of rehearsals and production. The dancers begin their day with ballet technique followed by a jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, character or pre-pointe/pointe class. After lunch students will rehearse anywhere from an hour and a half to 4-hours depending upon their level and production assignment for the day.
Production is a parent favorite as it gives the performers an opportunity to see and experience all that goes into producing and creating a full-length professional showcase. Dancers learn the importance of repairing and caring for props and costumes. They are required to inventory costumes, make minor repairs and alterations along with working backstage. Advance level students may be asked to assist in writing press releases, marketing and program layout. Last but not least, the dancers are responsible for keeping their workspace clean on a daily basis.

Educationally and professionally, parents are very impressed with PSMD’s staff. The school currently has faculty members who have their college degrees from renowned universities such as The Juilliard School and Boston Conservatory and/or has danced professionally with companies such as: American Ballet Theatre, The Stars of New York City Ballet, Charlotte Ballet, and Houston Ballet. The school’s incomparable faculty specializes in teaching ages 3 and up.
