Private Music lessons in Charlotte & Kannapolis!
Private music lessons offer each student an ideal opportunity to receive personal and customized training from their teaching artist. Students will participate in a well-rounded program and, most importantly, enjoy the process! Our faculty is comprised of professional, experienced, motivating teachers who have a passion for teaching music. Whether you are interested in piano, guitar, voice, or violin we will work with you to find the instructor best suited to your individual style and musical goals.
Private lessons are offered for all popular instruments and voice. We have found that private one-on-one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques. Students can start private lessons any time of the year or month so there’s no need to wait to get started. A variety of styles are taught such as pop, jazz, rock and classical. Contact the music school office in Charlotte or Kannapolis to see which music lesson times and days are available.
In addition to your private music lesson, our Charlotte music school is excited to offer a personalized online practice portal to our students! This free portal acts as an online homework journal that your teacher will update every week. Once your teacher submits your lesson, you (the parent) will get an email with a link to the lesson on the portal. Using the personalized portal, teachers are able to send educational videos, pdfs, and sheet music to their students right away without having to wait a week for their next lesson.
We offer: Piano Lessons, Voice Lessons, Guitar Lessons, Violin Lessons.

What Age Can I Start?
A missed lesson…Not a problem
Not a problem. Students are allowed one complimentary make up lesson per semester. (Jan – March, April – June, July – Sept, Oct – Dec) On occasion, the music faculty at PSMD will not have availability for a make up lesson due to their full teaching schedules. In such cases where a make up lesson can not be rescheduled, complimentary master classes are scheduled on a bi-monthly basis. The master classes are 1 – hour long and require students to RSVP 24 hours in advance.
Do I need a piano to start lessons?
Although it is ideal to have a piano at home, it is not a necessity, you can begin your at home piano practice by using an electric keyboard. We highly recommend a keyboard with full sized keys that are weighted. This means the harder you play the louder the sound and vise versa.
In the event PSMD closes due to inclement weather, a “School Closed” notification will be posted on the school’s website, Facebook page, and Twitter account by 12:00 noon. Music lessons canceled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled or refunded.
